Curriculum for the Academic Year 2019-20
The academic curriculum at Bloom Public School is an amalgamation of our cultural heritage and modern scientific thinking. It is a comprehensive education system designed to succeed in the coming millenium as it incorporates a futuristic approach that will help students to excel in both, their professional and personal lives. To broaden the child's horizon, Bloom Public School offers French and German languages as a part of the academic curriculum and computer literacy is an integral feature of the school programme.
Academic Year: The Academic year at Bloom Public School is divided into two terms with Periodic Assessments. Two quarters and Examinations held at the end of each term . The curriculum has been streamlined to make it child centric. More stress has been laid on quality over quantity. The homework load has been cut down and care has been taken to make it activity based.
Awards: Meritorious students are awarded Scholar Badges and Certificates.
The Pre-school Curriculum
The first six years play a key role in a child’s life as they begin to absorb the world around them and develop.
These are the foundational years. The experiences that children have early in their lives affect their physical, cognitive, emotional and social development. Preschool is an important stage which lays the foundation for life-long learning and all round development of the child. It is also the starting point of formal education.
We at Bloom Public School believe in the holistic development of every child. An enriching and happy environment in school helps in a smooth transition from home to school, from preschool to primary school and ensures development of all the skills.
Our goal is that children are physically, socially and mentally healthy and they are learning and developing at a decent pace with good communication skills.
Based on the NCERT guidelines our curriculum is a combination of activity , theme and project based approaches. It is a good balance of play, activity, creativity, free conversation, story narration, role play, rhymes, drawing and coloring, outdoor/indoor, structured/ unstructured and individual/group activities which cater to all aspects of development and learning.
The curriculum is drawn on the following guiding principles:
- Learning is continuous and cumulative.
- Each child is different and grows and learns and develops at his/her own pace.
- Play and activity are the primary medium for preschool education.
- Children learn by constructing knowledge through challenges, repetition and benefit from instruction by teachers and peers.
- Interactive teaching enhances learning experiences.
- Responsiveness to the context and diversity of status and experiences support learning.
- Family involvement contributes to learning.
At the end of the session the teacher may assess if these desired outcomes have been achieved.

Parents play an important role in the development of their child‘s personality. Parents and teachers, therefore, must function together as partners to help the children learn and grow. Parent education is necessary to ensure that whatever is achieved in the school is further reinforced or complemented at home.
- Parents are informed regularly about their child‘s development.
- Parents are also involved to assist in handling small group activities, for example, creative activities, story-telling or to accompany children for outings etc.
Assessment is based on informal techniques like observations, analysis of children's work etc. It is continuous and covers all aspects of development and early learning.
We assess the following areas of development:
- Physical (gross & fine motor skills)
- Cognitive (listening, observing, understanding, reasoning)
- Social and Emotional (interpersonal& intrapersonal)
